David Samuel

saw the potential for Net radio almost as soon as he installed his first RealAudio player. Now TheDJ.com serves 70 channels of music supported by ads and other revenue streams.

But why would people want to use their computers as radios? Depth of variety, song information, ratings that influence their play list -- and, of course, the back end, where you can buy the songs you're listening to, and maybe concert tickets, too. Samuel is targeting white collar office workers, who probably cannot even get radio reception over the electronic hum of their office equipment.

John Borland talks to David Samuel about the future of Net radio. (Recorded April 29, 1998.)
