Tom Evans

was recently named CEO of GeoCities, the consumer network of personal websites that has built huge traffic by agglomerating thousands of "homesteader" websites. Evans, who comes from a traditional print magazine background, will now be tasked with capitalizing on that traffic to turn GeoCities into a top Internet media company. John Borland asked him why he's leaving a successful stint in the print media world for an online company that's just beginning to be seen as a media company.

It is the greatest business and communication phenomenon of my lifetime. It’s only going to get bigger and it’s only going to get faster and its only going to get better.

Most Pessimistic Thing About The Web:
I wonder how many people we’ve lost because of how difficult and confusing the Web is to navigate. That’s my real concern.
